Print Assets

My day to day responsibilities were to maintain all in-store visuals especially those that consisted of print work such as store signage, window banners, and other visual displays. I worked to design print work for sales, holiday events, in-store artwork as well flyers for KicksUSA’s external events that happened around the tristate area.

In-Store Signage

In-Store signage is used in stores to communicate information about a brand, product, price point, and requirements or exclusions in a sale. I worked to designed various signage styles in 7×5.5in & 11x14in compositions to fit the sign holders in each store. These signs were designed, sent to a printer in Philly, then I would take them and sort them for each store. After sorting was finished, I worked with the shipping department at KicksUSA corporate headquarters to ensure that the items were sent to their respective stores. Signage was usually pretty basic and simple, and I worked to elevate the look of those visuals. Sometimes these items would be custom designed to fit with a sale or theme KickUSA wanted to emphasize (Re-fun Season, Black Friday, Holiday, Etc).

Large Format Posters

Large format posters are used in the Windows of every KicksUSA store. They are used to not only communicate a sale or new product but to also bring people into the stores. These designs ranged from 24x36in to 48x72in and were styled around a theme, sale or event. I would design these Posters and print them in house. I used a large format cutter to cut the large rolls on prints, tubed the posters, and worked with shipping to get them sent out to stores.

Visual Displays

Visual displays are used to showcase art and other product information throughout stores. I had the opportunity to design two sneaker fact posters as well as in-store artwork for the stores. The Sneaker posters give shoppers some background information on the Air Force One & Air Max 90, going into detail about construction, colors, and year of production. The artwork I designed was an abstract take on the Adidas brand. I wanted something eye catching that would help Kicks lure shoppers to buy Adidas product based on the image. You can see the sneaker history posters in the Penrose store in Philadelphia, and the artwork in the South Street flagship in Philadelphia as well.

Email, Social Media, and more

Digital Design was a major part of brand recognition for KicksUSA. I worked to create email designs to aid our e-commerce efforts as well as push company goals of selling apparel and footwear, designed profiles, Snapchat filters, and quick motion pieces for social media, design web banners and other graphics for the website, as well as designing web banner ads for Kick’s affiliates.

Email Assets

Connecting with the customers through email played a significant role in the success of KicksUSA e-commerce presence. From information on sales, gender & age specific ads, new releases, and events, email is a vital communication tool that helps Kicks maintain a solid customer base. I designed tons of emails that would later be built into mail-chimp templates and sent out via various campaigns.

Website Homepage Ads

Web Banners were used on the main website to help highlight major sales and major releases. These banners were used to help drive traffic to the areas or products on the site that needed salethru.

Banner Ads

Banner ads were designed to accompany the previous two items and would be sent out to Affiliates who would take them and populate them through the internet. If you’ve ever searched for a shoe or hat and saw a small ad on the screen, chances are one of those companies made it happen. These designs were often animated as the composition as a alot smaller. There was need to not only design interesting ads but to find a way to share the entire message around a sale or product.

Billboards, Vehicle Wraps, and more

Large Scale graphics like Billboards and vehicle wraps helped KicksUSA with brand recognition. To date, I have designed four truck wraps, three billboards, and created step & repeats for events and barricades that they use in the front of stores that are under construction. My most recent design for KickUSA was a truck design for their partnership with Philly based radio station Boom 103.9. This truck is used for joint promotion of both brands and is often used at events.

Landing Pages, Layouts, and more

UI/UX was a significant portion of KicksUSA’s e-commerce business. I designed and developed landing pages, homepage, and interior site pages, as well as hand-coded layouts and web banners using a mix of Magento and standard coding programs like Dreamweaver.

The Yeezy Landing page was a page I designed for customers to visit when the shoe was not currently releasing. This page was created to display information about the shoes, brand, and the times it was released.

Brooklyn Grand Opening

KicksUSA had been based in the Philly, Jersey, Delaware metro area from the time of its creation to about 2016 when the company made way to open stores in the DMV and NYC. Brooklyn was the first NYC store and big deal was created around this event because the NYC market is the top tier. I worked to design a landing page that would introduce KicksUSA to Brooklyn and vice versa. I worked to add in images of kicks stores, sneakers, and the sights around NYC.

Air Jordan I

The first Air Jordan page I created was a focus on all things MJ. This page was created to showcase to Jordan Brand in an effort to sell Jordan products online via Kicksusa.com which was a first. Jordan Brand only lets certain accounts sell their products online and this was our shot to land it. The page features a bio of MJ, an interactive sneaker history gallery, information on the latest Jordan collection with price points, and section to buy additional shoes, and lastly a beauty shot of items from the same. All in all this design was able to bring Jordan to KicksUSA online website but shortly after a new challenge arose.

Air Jordan II

The second Jordan page was created as a challenge from Jordan Brand. The loved the first page but told the company we want another website and if we like it we will let KicksUSA not only sell Jordan online, but get the biggest release of the year at that time which was the Air Jordan 11 Space Jam. I worked to design a horizontal scrolling website that was set up like a store. On the walls were sneakers, jerseys, and more each clickable giving the viewer a fact about a product or MJ. I worked to add in as much history about MJ and the shoes as I possibly could. When all was said and done Jordan Brand was impressed and granted Kicks full web sales and a huge shipment of Air Jordan 11s.Kicksusa.com which was a first. Kicks & Fits

When I wasn’t designing and wearing a million hats, I found solace in doing sneaker reviews, modeling product, and starring as a host of Kickway Tv. Kickway Tv was KicksUSA’s online initiative to create original programming based on sneaker culture. Below you can take a look at some of the episodes & reviews.
