CONCEPTUAL APPAREL LINE
During my time designing for KicksUSA (Now Snipes) PNB Rock became an official partner of the company. Aside from appearances in stores, shout outs on stage, and lacing PNB with the latest gear, an idea was thrown onto the table to create an apparel line. I was chosen to design some items for the line and while the project was held up and eventually shelved, I still want to showcase what could have been. I worked to keep the apparel simple and minimal using imagery from PNB’s Going through the motions album, as well as some original graphics based around a logo inspired by New Balance. For this project, I designed t-shirts, hats, and jerseys.
At the time, KicksUSA produced house apparel line called CAMP, and PnB Rock’s clothing line was to be a spin-off of that brand and sold in the store. The first item on the list for this project was to design snapback and dad hats for consumers. As stated earlier, I created a logo inspired by the New Balance logo which features lines going through text representing motion or running. At the time PnB was blowing up as an artist and was the only artist in Philadelphia getting significant attention. I decided to base the logo on this concept to play with the idea of “Running your city.” From there I designed hats in color-ways inspired by Philadelphia sports teams as well as some primary colors for those who were looking for something simple.
My second design featured elements from the “Going Thru the Motions” album that PnB released a few months prior. I wanted this design to be used to help further promote his album as well as designing a fashionable design for consumers to wear. I wanted to keep the colors for this design grounded with the colors used in the album so they would better fit the overall aesthetic of the marketing the project.going through text representing motion or running. The next portion of this project featured t-shirt designs. I wanted to create t-shirts that felt like band tees but had a more streetwear aesthetic. Some of these designs featured all over prints of PNB himself performing or posing in pictures while the others featured the “PNB Rush” logo paired with some ties inspired colors. I also created a few basic tees for the more lowkey consumer.
Last but not least I worked on a few Jersey concepts. PNB was set to perform at Roots Picnic and I wanted to get him something cool he could perform in. I designed 2 baseball jerseys, one based on the Miami Dolphins colors which featured the pnb logo on the front and a crossword puzzle on the back that read “PNB Rock” in the middle. The second design was inspired by the famous graffiti at 5th and Cecil B. Moore Avenue in Philadelphia. Additionally I created two basketball jerseys based upon my own creative design.
